That is why strong tremors were felt. The tremors of the earthquake, which lasted for a few seconds, were so strong that strong vibrations were felt inside the buildings.
Strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Delhi on Monday morning. The earth kept shaking for several seconds. People came out of their homes in panic. According to the National Center for Seismology, the magnitude of the earthquake was measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, its epicenter was at a depth of 5 km from the earth near Delhi. That is why strong tremors were felt. The tremors of the earthquake, which lasted for a few seconds, were so strong that strong vibrations were felt inside the buildings. The earthquake occurred at 5:36 am, which disturbed the sleep of the people.
An official told PTI-Bhasha that the epicenter of the earthquake was near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan. The official said that there is a lake near the place where the epicenter was. This region has been experiencing small and low intensity earthquakes once every two to three years. He said, in 2015, this earthquake of 3.3 magnitude occurred. The tremors of the earthquake were felt in Delhi-NCR as well as neighboring states. Panic spread among the people and they came out of their homes as a precaution. At present, there is no news of loss of life or property from anywhere.

BJP leader Tajinder Bagga posted a question asking, ‘Earthquake?’, while Congress leader Alka Lamba also shared a similar post. Delhi Police posted from its X handle, ‘We hope you all are safe. In case of any emergency, dial 112.’ Tremors were felt in Delhi on January 7, when a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Tibet caused massive destruction. Delhi acting Chief Minister Atishi also posted about the earthquake on X and wished for everyone’s safety. She wrote, ‘A strong earthquake has just hit Delhi. I pray to God that everyone is safe.’ AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal wrote on X, ‘I pray for everyone’s safety.’
The National Center for Seismology said that the epicentre of the earthquake that hit Delhi, Noida, and other NCR cities was at 28.59 degrees north latitude and 77.16 degrees east longitude. Passengers at the New Delhi Railway Station told news agency ANI that it felt like a train was running underground. One person said, “Everything was shaking. A vendor at the station said that as soon as the earthquake tremors were felt and everything started shaking, many customers started shouting.” Another passenger waiting for his train told ANI, “The earthquake tremors were felt for a very short time, but the intensity was so high, it felt like a train came very fast.” Three series of earthquakes in Tibet on January 7 killed 126 people and caused massive damage to infrastructure.
