New Delhi : Sharad Pawar has received a big blow from the Supreme Court amidst the Maharashtra elections. The apex court has refused to stop Ajit Pawar from using the ‘clock’ election symbol. The Supreme Court has asked Ajit Pawar to follow the order to put a disclaimer pending in the court along with the clock symbol. The next hearing in this case will be on November 6.
Actually, Sharad Pawar’s NCP had filed a petition demanding to stop Ajit Pawar from using the clock election symbol. The matter was heard in the Supreme Court on Thursday , October 24,2024 . The apex court has rejected the demand to stop Ajit Pawar from using the clock election symbol.
The Supreme Court sought an oath from Ajit Pawar and asked him to write that he is following the order of putting a disclaimer pending in the court with a clock symbol. Justice Suryakant said, “We will give him (Ajit Pawar) a chance to respond. He should also give an affidavit that our order will not be violated in future. He should also write that he has not done this in the past. The Justice said, “Ajit Pawar should give an affidavit that he is following our orders of March 19 and April 4. The next hearing in this case will be on November 6.
Let us inform you that the Election Commission has announced the schedule for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. The assembly elections in the state will be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024 for all 288 seats. The results will be declared on November 23. The term of the current assembly is ending on November 26.
