The Central Government has renamed Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as “Sri Vijaya Puram”
Sri Vijaya Puram: The central government has announced to change the name of Port Blair, the main city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to “Sri Vijaya Puram”. This decision has been taken with the aim of honoring the cultural and historical heritage of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The order related to this change has been issued by the central government. Under the new naming process, the new name will be used in all official documents, sign boards and government records of Port Blair.
According to government officials, the decision aims to promote local culture and history and give a new direction to the identity of the archipelago. This change has also received positive response from local residents and organisations.
Now known as “Sri Vijaya Puram”, this town will become an important and historical place of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
