Why are Indians being deported from the US?
Indian illegal immigrants are being deported from the US under policies in which the Trump administration has decided to expel illegal people from the country. These include those who enter the country illegally or stay in the country beyond the duration of their visa.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the US recently, where he met President Donald Trump to discuss key bilateral issues, including immigration.
During a joint press conference, PM Modi had reaffirmed India’s commitment to send back Indian nationals, while also emphasising the need to tackle human trafficking networks that exploit vulnerable migrants.
