A girl student has accused a student of Kolkata’s Indian Institute of Management (IIM) college of rape. In this case, the statements of the victim’s father and the accused student’s mother have come to light. The victim’s father himself denied his daughter’s allegations. He said that nothing wrong happened to the daughter. Neither was there rape, nor did anyone misbehave. The daughter does not even know the accused. She is completely normal and is sleeping right now. The father also told that he received a call at 9:34 pm on Friday night, in which he was told that his daughter fell from an auto and fainted. Later the police admitted her to the Neurology Department of SSKM Hospital.
At the same time, the mother of rape case accused Mahavir Toppanwar alias Parmanand Jain said that we received a call from his friend at around 11 pm. He told that my son has been taken into custody and he does not know the reason for this. We do not know why our son has been arrested. We want to meet our son and want to talk to him. He was in his final year of college. We don’t know anything here in Kolkata. Where is the police station or court? My son is innocent. He has come so far to study. He will never do such a dirty thing.
What is the victim’s allegation?
The victim woman told in her FIR that she had gone to the hostel for counselling. It is alleged that the accused student of the college called her to the boys’ hostel on the pretext of a counselling session and gave her pizza and water for lunch. After eating and drinking, she fell unconscious and when she regained consciousness, she came to know that she had been raped. The victim alleges that the student also threatened her that if she told anyone about this, she would have to face serious consequences.

What did the police say in its report presented in the court?
Kolkata Police made many important revelations while presenting its report in the court. According to the police, this incident took place on July 11, 2025 between 11:45 am and 8:35 pm. The accused, who claimed to be mentally disturbed, had called the girl to his hostel room on the pretext of counselling. The police told the court that the accused, who is a second year MBA student at the institute, offered lunch and water to the victim. As soon as the girl ate and drank, she started feeling dizzy. After this, the accused forcibly had physical relations with the victim against her will.
Accused arrested at midnight
According to the police, the accused was arrested from the hostel itself at 12:15 am on July 12. The arrest was made through reliable information and an identifier present at the spot. During interrogation, the statement of the accused was recorded and the clothes and mobile phone worn at the time of the incident were seized.
Police added these sections later
The police also told the court that the sections registered in the case have been changed based on the evidence and facts found during the investigation. Now, sections 64, 123 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), along with sections 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 76 (assault) have been added to the case.
