UP Assembly Budget Session: On the first day of the budget session, a fierce debate was seen between both the ruling party and the opposition. CM Yogi Adityanath launched a strong attack on the entire opposition including SP. At the same time, the leaders of the Samajwadi Party protested fiercely against the government. The budget session of the UP Legislature has started from today. On the first day, Governor Anandiben Patel addressed the joint house of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The general budget for the financial year 2025-26 will be presented on February 20. Both the ruling party and the opposition have geared up for this.
The budget session was uproarious on the very first day. Speaking in the UP Assembly at the beginning of the budget session, CM Yogi Adityanath fiercely attacked the SP. He said in the House that these people will send their children to English schools and want to make the children of others Maulvi. The CM gave a strong speech in the Assembly regarding Urdu and other languages and said that SP wants to take the country towards fundamentalism, this is not going to work.
In fact, the leader of opposition in the assembly Mata Prasad Pandey had said that Urdu should be used instead of English in the floor language. In response to this, CM Yogi said that the opposition opposes every good work. They advocate Urdu and oppose Bhojpuri, Awadhi.
CM Yogi also said that people from different communities/classes have come to this House, the voice of the person at the bottom rung should be given a voice in the House, for this, if he is unable to speak Hindi or English, then he can speak Awadhi, Bundelkhandi, Bhojpuri, whatever he is capable of.
On the very first day of the budget session, Samajwadi Party leaders reached the Vidhan with the urn of ashes. SP MLC Ashutosh Sinha reached the Vidhan Sabha riding a bicycle and said that the urn of morality will be placed in the temple of democracy. SP’s protest begins
Before the start of the UP budget session, Samajwadi Party MLAs are protesting near Chaudhary Charan Singh’s statue in the assembly. Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey and senior SP leader Rajendra Chaudhary are also present with them. He said that the government will have to answer on Maha Kumbh, the figures of the dead have been hidden.
CM Yogi gave advice
Regarding the budget session, CM Yogi Adityanath said that running the house is not only the responsibility of the ruling party, but also of the opposition. We hope that the opposition will not disrupt the proceedings of the house due to frustration of defeat. They will not vent their anger of defeat in the house. Anyway, every question of the opposition will be answered, there should be meaningful discussion. Parliamentary conduct should be followed.
According to CM Yogi – Today, as soon as the proceedings of the assembly begin, the Governor will address the House. After this, from tomorrow onwards, there will also be a discussion in the House on the Governor’s address. On February 20, the general budget of Uttar Pradesh for the year 2025-26 will be presented in the House. The session has been proposed from February 18 to March 5. There have been very few occasions in the history of Uttar Pradesh when the session has been convened for such a long time. But the proceedings of the House should be completed smoothly. This is not only the responsibility of the ruling party, but it is also an equally important responsibility of the opposition. The House should become a platform for discussion. The standards of development of Uttar Pradesh set by the double-engine Bharatiya Janata Party government in the last about 8 years are unprecedented. A glimpse of this is seen through the address as well as discussions inside the House … Naturally, the frustrated and disappointed opposition tries to run away from discussing these issues and tries to create obstacles in it. The role of the opposition is important in the proceedings of the House. If the opposition helps in taking forward a meaningful discussion, then I guess this session can be very good.
On the other hand, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna also suggested all the ministers and MLAs to answer the questions of the opposition parties with restraint, logic and dignity.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan came in front of people after tying himself in chains. Atul Pradhan says that Indians deported from America have been insulted. UP Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said that Samajwadi Party does not remember the dances and songs that used to happen in Saifai during their time. They used to organize dances in it, today when such a big event is being organized in Kumbh, then they are talking like this.
Brajesh Pathak targets SP
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said on the Assembly Budget Session 2025-26 starting from today, “Today the budget session of the Assembly is going to start. Our government has resolved for the all-round development of the state. Various issues will be discussed. All the members of the Legislature Party are requested to help in the development of the state and participate in the Assembly session.”
He further said, “The negative narrative of Samajwadi Party has completely flopped… Our government is continuously working to make the environment of the state better and to strengthen the infrastructure… The size of the state’s budget is constantly increasing. The state will soon be established as a developed state. Rajbhar said – it will be the biggest budget till date. At the same time, Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government O.P. Rajbhar said on the budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly starting from today,
“This will be the biggest budget till date. Just like the central government presented its budget, which was a budget of prosperity for every section including farmers, youth, unemployed. Similarly, the budget of the state will also be a budget of prosperity… The state will progress more rapidly on the path of development.” He further said, “The job of the opposition is to oppose and the job of the government is to do development work. So let them (opposition) protest, we are doing our work…”

On the other hand, SP leader Ravidas Mehrotra says about the budget session, “We will protest during the governor’s address because she will falsely praise the government… This government used to leak exam papers earlier and now the governor’s speech has also been leaked. This government has failed on every front.”
