A big update has come out regarding the trade deal between India and America. According to a senior official, India and the United States have successfully negotiated a limited trade agreement. This deal has been reached after several weeks of intense discussions, after which India remained adamant on its demands.
The official said that if America had taken a tough stand then we were prepared to bear the impact of the tariff, but Washington showed a willingness to negotiate and this allowed the deal to move forward. Although there has been no official announcement of a trade deal between the two countries yet, but with this update from the official, it has been confirmed that a limited deal (mini deal) will be signed between India and America.
Many sectors can get relief under the India-US deal. Also, this agreement may mention opening of the Indian market for maize and fruits as per American demands. The agreement was to be announced on Monday night. But it may happen today as the deadline for reciprocal tariff is ending on Wednesday night.

This success is being seen as a positive step towards resolving the long term trade tension between the two countries. This limited deal is expected to include select sectors and will pave the way for a comprehensive trade deal in future. Sources say that this deal can possibly be announced by US President Donald Trump in a few hours.
Tariff was imposed on April 2, 2025
Let us tell you, on April 2, 2025, the US had announced reciprocal tariffs on many countries including India, which included 26% additional duty on India, which was suspended for 90 days. India was demanding complete removal of this extra tariff, while the US wants market access in agriculture and dairy sectors, but India did not agree to this and then a mini trade deal was agreed between the two countries.
