Mamata Banerjee said that ‘Religion should not be played with. Religion means devotion, affection, humanity, peace, harmony, culture, harmony and unity. Loving human beings is one of the highest manifestations of any religion. We are born alone and die alone, so why fight?’
The violence against the Waqf law in West Bengal is not stopping. Now CM Mamata Banerjee’s patience also seems to be giving up and she has warned the rioters that you may be A, B, C, D, E, F, but do not take the law into your hands. She also appealed to the people to maintain peace and law and order and said that we stand with the neglected and the victims.
‘We stand with the victims, the deprived’
In a program while inaugurating the skywalk near the famous Kali temple at Kalighat in South Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee said that ‘religion should not be tampered with. Religion means devotion, affection, humanity, peace, harmony, culture, harmony and unity. Loving human beings is one of the highest expressions of any religion. We are born alone and die alone, so why fight? Why riots, war or unrest? Remember, if we love people then we can win everything. But if we isolate ourselves, we will not be able to win anyone over. If anyone is attacked, whether he is neglected, oppressed, deprived, marginalised or from any religion – we stand with everyone.’
Mamata Banerjee’s warning
Warning the rioters, Mamata Banerjee said, ‘I would like to tell all of you that everyone has the right to peaceful democratic movement, but please, no matter who you are A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, do not take the law into your hands. There are protectors to protect the law, we do not want law destroyers.’ She said, ‘Stay peaceful. The land of Bengal is a land of peace. Its soil is as pure as gold.’
It is worth noting that on Monday also, supporters of the Indian Secular Front (ISF) clashed with the police in South 24 Parganas district. During this, there was a lot of uproar. Many people were injured in the violence and many police vehicles were set on fire. This clash took place when the police tried to stop ISF supporters from going to the rally of party leader and Bhangar MLA Naushad Siddiqui in Kolkata. Police say that there was no police permission for this rally.
