Pak Defense Minister Khawaja Asif spewed venom against India-Photo-Reuters
Former Pakistani ambassador to the US said that the Pakistani Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Field Marshal are urging on different forums to talk to India and the Defense Minister is making such statements.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif has said such a thing about Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his own people have started advising him. On one hand, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Pak Army Chief are trying to talk to India and on the other hand Khawaja Asif is spewing venom against India. Hussain Haqqani, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US, has raised questions on his action and asked whether Pakistan’s ministers do not discuss any issue among themselves, that Khawaja Asif is saying such things.
Hussain Haqqani shared Khawaja Asif’s post on the social media platform X and wrote, ‘Do Pakistan’s cabinet ministers not talk to each other? The Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Field Marshal are saying all over the world that Pakistan wants to talk to India again and now, the Defence Minister is saying objectionable things about the Prime Minister of India. How can any conversation move forward with such language?’

On Wednesday June 25 , 2025 itself, Shahbaz Sharif had called Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and said that he wants to talk to India. He said that he is ready to talk on all issues like terrorism, Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), Indus Water Treaty and trade. Meanwhile, this statement of Khawaja Asif has come. However, this is not the first time that the Pakistani government has had to face embarrassment due to the statement of the Pakistani Defense Minister.
Khwaja Asif is a big name in Pakistani politics, but he embarrasses himself by giving some absurd statement every day. A similar incident happened last month, when after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, in an interview with a foreign TV channel, he admitted that Pakistan has been giving shelter to terrorism. He had told the journalist that Pakistan has been playing the dirty game of sheltering terrorism at the behest of the West for many decades.
This statement of Khawaja Asif created a ruckus in the politics of Pakistan. Although, no statement came from the government, but many Pakistani journalists and famous people with deep understanding of Pakistani politics criticised his statement.
