Uttar Pradesh : Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh is in the headlines right now. It is also being searched on Google as Bahraich violence, Bahraich encounter. The reason behind this is the violence that took place there and the police encounter with the accused after that. Four days after the Bahraich violence, UP police did a half encounter of two accused. The names of the accused are Mohammad Sarfaraz and Taleem.
It is being claimed that Sarfaraz is the one who shot and killed Ram Gopal Mishra. But as soon as the news of Bahraich encounter came out, the opposition started targeting the Yogi government. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav said that these are not encounters, but murders! Congress state president Ajay Rai said that the Yogi government has always been doing fake encounters.
In such a situation, when we are talking about encounters in UP, it becomes important to know that in whose rule the maximum number of encounters took place in UP – Yogi, Akhilesh, Mulayam and Mayawati. However, when the figures were taken out, it was found that police encounters took place in everyone’s government. It’s just that some have more figures and some have less.
Mulayam government was number one in the matter of encounters
In such a situation, if we talk about full encounters here, then during the tenure of Mulayam Singh Yadav government from 29 August 2003 to 13 May 2007, 499 criminals were killed in encounters. Whereas in Mayawati’s government from 13 May 2007 to 14 March 2012, 261 criminals were killed. In Akhilesh’s government from 15 March 2012 to 19 March 2017, 40 criminals were killed in encounters. In the Yogi government from 19 March 2017 till now, 210 criminals have been killed in encounters. In this way, while the maximum encounters took place in Mulayam Singh’s government, the least in Akhilesh’s government.
What is the figure of Yogi government’s tenure
117 criminals were killed in CM Yogi’s first term, while the STF of Uttar Pradesh seems to be more active in eliminating criminals across the country. We are not saying this but the figures of the Home Ministry are telling. If we talk about the last five years of Yogi government from 2017 to 2022, then UP was the second state in the country where the maximum encounters took place. Out of these, 117 criminals died after being shot by the STF. Whereas eight criminals were killed in encounters in Rajasthan, 13 in Madhya Pradesh and 22 in Bihar.
