The police have recovered fake notes worth Rs 5.62 lakh, real notes worth Rs 1.10 lakh, 3,000 Nepali currency, 10 desi pistols, 4 cotton bombs, 2 Nepali SIM cards and 26 fake documents.
Kushinagar: A big international gang of counterfeit notes has been exposed in Kushinagar, UP. Police have arrested 10 people including Mohammad Rafiq Khan alias Bablu, National Secretary of Samajwadi Party’s Lohia Vahini. Rafiq Khan is said to be the mastermind of the gang of counterfeiters. According to the complaint lodged, he had established a network of fake notes in the border areas of Nepal, UP and Bihar. Naushad Khan, one of the other arrested accused, is said to be the vice-president of the cultural cell of the Samajwadi Party. Police have recovered fake notes worth Rs 5.62 lakh, real notes worth Rs 1.10 lakh, three thousand Nepalese currency, 10 country-made pistols, 4 cotton bombs, 2 Nepalese SIMs and 26 fake documents.
Kushinagar SP Santosh Mishra said, “A gang dealing in fake currency has been busted in the district. A total of 10 people have been arrested. Fake currency worth lakhs, more than Rs 1 lakh in cash, 10 country-made pistols, 30 bullets and 12 shells were recovered, apart from this, 4 ‘sutli bombs’ (firecrackers) were also recovered from them. Nepalese currency has also been recovered from the possession of the accused, we have received information that they also had movement in Nepal.”
Police said that four accused including Jitendra Yadav of Siwan, Bihar, Manish Kumar of Gopalganj and Kamruddin are absconding in this case. Police claimed that all the four absconding accused will be arrested soon. Kushinagar police has assured strict action against this gang. The names of the arrested accused include Aurangzeb, Mohammad Rafi, Naushad Khan, Parvez Ilahi alias Kausar Afridi, Sheikh Jamaluddin, Niazuddin alias Munna, Rehan Khan alias Saddam, Mohammad Rafiq alias Bablu Khan, Hashim Khan and Siraj Hashmi.
