15 Naxalites carrying a bounty of ₹73 lakh surrendered, handing over lethal weapons like AK-47s and INSAS rifles.

Mahasamund : Significant news is emerging from the district, where security forces have achieved a major success on the Naxalite front on Sunday March 1 , 2026 .

15 Maoists carrying a bounty surrendered at the district police station, returning to the mainstream. Those who surrendered include nine female and six male Naxalites.

The most prominent among them is Vikas alias Sudarshan alias Babanna alias Rajanna, on whom a bounty of ₹25 lakh was announced. Along with him, 14 other Maoists carrying a bounty have also surrendered and expressed confidence in the state government’s rehabilitation and revitalisation policy.

It is being reported that all the surrendered Naxalites had been active in the Naxalite organisation for a long time and had been involved in several major incidents.


During their surrender to security forces, the Naxalites also surrendered 14 sophisticated and automatic weapons, including three AK-47 rifles, two INSAS rifles, four 3-NOT-3 rifles, and 12-bore rifles. A total bounty of ₹7.3 million (approximately $1.7 million) was announced on all these Naxalites.

For now, the surrendered Naxalites will be placed under the rehabilitation process. Further legal action will be taken after questioning by police officers. This major success by the Mahasamund Police is being considered a significant achievement on the Naxalite front, further strengthening hopes for peace and development in the region.

Due to the continuous campaigns, dialogues, and rehabilitation policies of the Mahasamund Police and security forces, 15 Maoists carrying bounties have surrendered today.

The process of rehabilitation and mainstreaming them is underway as per the government’s policy. Naxalites are urged to give up their weapons and return to the mainstream of society in the future.
