After the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) crushing defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, former party leader and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan has launched a scathing attack on Arvind Kejriwal. Prashant Bhushan described this defeat as the ‘beginning of the end’ of the Aam Aadmi Party and said that Kejriwal deviated the party from its core ideology and made it a ‘corrupt organization’.

In a post on social media platform X, Prashant Bhushan alleged that Kejriwal abandoned the principles of transparency, accountability and alternative politics… and turned the party into a dictatorial and opaque organization.

He also cornered Kejriwal on the ‘Sheeshmahal’ controversy, in which he was accused of spending Rs 45 crore for the renovation of the Chief Minister’s residence. Prashant Bhushan wrote that he built a Sheeshmahal worth Rs 45 crore for himself and started moving around in luxury cars. He threw away 33 detailed policy reports of expert committees formed by AAP, and said that the party will adopt appropriate policies when needed. He said that Kejriwal relied on ‘propaganda and false claims’ instead of real governance, which tarnished the party’s image.

Anna Hazare also took a jibe

Social activist Anna Hazare also reacted to the defeat of Aam Aadmi Party and took a jibe at Kejriwal’s ‘Aam Aadmi’ claim. He said that he used to say that he would live in a small room all his life, but later heard that he built a glass palace. I am 90 years old, I could have also built a luxurious house, but real happiness is found in serving the society, not in luxury. Anna Hazare had earlier also said that AAP gave more priority to money than service, which raised questions on its credibility and ultimately led to this defeat.

AAP wiped out in Delhi, BJP returns to power

After being in power for 10 years in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a crushing defeat and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power after 27 years. BJP won 48 seats in the 70-member assembly, while AAP was reduced to just 22 seats. In this wave of BJP, the top order of Aam Aadmi Party also collapsed. Hence Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Saurabh Bhardwaj also could not save their seats.
