Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s claim that several countries could provide nuclear weapons to Iran is a grave warning to global security. US strikes, which used Tomahawk missiles and GBU-57 bombs from B-2 bombers and the USS Georgia, failed to stop Iran’s nuclear program. He sharply criticised Trump, calling him a “president of peace” and a “war monger”.

On Sunday June 22, 2025 , former Russian President and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev made a shocking statement in which he claimed that many countries are ready to directly give their nuclear weapons to Iran. This statement came in response to the US night attacks on Iran’s three nuclear sites Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan on Saturday June 21, 2025 .

Medvedev said the attacks failed to stop Iran’s nuclear program and further escalated tensions in the Middle East. He sharply criticized US President Donald Trump, calling him a “president of peace” and a “war monger”.

US attacks: What happened?

On the night of 21 June 2025, the US attacked three Iranian nuclear sites, Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, using B-2 Spirit stealth bombers and the USS Georgia (SSGN 729) submarine in a major military operation. In this operation…

12 GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs were dropped on Fordo, which can penetrate 60-meter deep bunkers. Two GBU-57 MOP bombs were dropped on Natanz. 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired on Natanz and Isfahan.

US President Donald Trump claimed that these attacks “completely destroyed” Iran’s nuclear sites. But Medvedev rejected this and said that these attacks failed. It has had serious consequences.

Medvedev’s nine points: The impact of US attacks

In his statement, Medvedev listed nine consequences of the US attacks, which reflect the seriousness of the situation.

Minor damage to nuclear infrastructure

*Vital structures of the nuclear fuel cycle at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan were either unaffected or suffered only minor damage.

*The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that there was no radioactive leak. Only six buildings were damaged.

*Iranian media claimed that enriched uranium had already been moved to safe locations.

In South Korea, the nation’s military said it conducted a live-fire exercise simulating an attack on North Korea’s nuclear test site to “strongly warn” Pyongyang over the latest nuclear test. Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the drill involved F-15 fighter jets and the country’s land-based “Hyunmoo” ballistic missiles. The released live weapons “accurately struck” a target in the sea off the country’s eastern coast, the JCS said. (South Korea Defense Ministry via NUR)

Nuclear weapon production continues

Medvedev said that Iran’s uranium enrichment program has not stopped. Now it can be openly said that the production of nuclear weapons will continue in the future. There is 83.7% enriched uranium present in Fordo, which is close to 90% required for nuclear weapons.

Supply of nuclear weapons from other countries

Medvedev’s most shocking claim is that many countries are ready to give their nuclear weapons to Iran. However, he did not name these countries. This claim is a threat to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It can promote a global nuclear arms race.

Attacks and panic on Israel

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retaliated by launching a 20th missile wave on Israel, using Khyber Shaken missiles. These attacks targeted Ben Gurion Airport and military bases, causing panic in Israel. Explosions occurred in cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa, schools were closed, and people hid in bunkers.

America’s new war

The US is now caught in a new conflict, with the possibility of a ground operation increasing. Medvedev said this is the result of Trump’s policies. The threat of Iran’s retaliation on US military bases remains.

Iran’s regime strengthened

Iran’s political regime has not only survived, but according to Medvedev, it has become stronger. The attacks have brought public support to Iran’s leadership.

Uniting the public

The people of Iran, which previously included people indifferent or opposed to the government, are now uniting around spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. These attacks have fueled nationalist sentiments in Iran.

Trump’s image of peace tarnished

Medvedev described Trump from “President of Peace” to “war monger”. He said that Trump pushed America into a new war. Trump’s dream of Nobel Peace Prize now seems to be shattered.

Global opposition

Medvedev claimed that most countries in the world oppose the actions of Israel and the US. Russia, China, Venezuela and other countries condemned these attacks.

Background of the attacks: Israel-Iran war

Tensions between Israel and Iran began in 2024, when Israel attacked the Iranian embassy in Damascus. In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Israel in April 2024. This tension turned into war in June 2025, when Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion” and attacked Iran’s military and nuclear bases.

Iran’s top military commanders and nuclear scientists were killed in these attacks. Iran retaliated by attacking Israel for the 20th time with Khyber Shaken missiles, targeting Ben Gurion airport and military bases. These attacks spread panic in Israel.

Medvedev attacks Trump

Medvedev criticized Trump’s policies, saying that he pushed the US into a new war. He mocked Trump’s claim for the Nobel Peace Prize and said his policies threatened global stability.
