Raipur: Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is proving beneficial for the people of Bilaspur district like the whole country. This is not only promoting environmental protection, but also providing relief from heavy electricity bills in this era of inflation. Anjali Singh, a resident of Ashok Nagar, Bilaspur, has installed a three kilowatt solar plant on her roof top . She told that the total cost of this solar plant was one lakh 85 thousand rupees. It has also received a subsidy of Rs 78 thousand from the central government.

Anjali Singh told that before installing the solar plant, the monthly electricity bill of her house used to be between two and a half to three thousand rupees. But now her electricity bill has been reduce by a half. This has given her great relief financially. She said that the visionary thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making a significant contribution in promoting renewable energy and conservation of natural resources. In the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, now the state government is also providing benefits to the consumers along with the central government.

The cabinet of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has decided to give an additional grant of up to Rs 30,000 in the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme to promote renewable energy and provide relief to electricity consumers. Anjali Singh of Bilaspur said that earlier there were problems when there was power cut , one had to complain repeatedly. Now these problems have been resolved. She said that the set-up was also installed within ten days of applying.

Anjali Singh thanked the government for the scheme and said that the maintenance of the solar system is very simple and there is no additional cost in it. Describing it as useful for every person, she has suggested to join this scheme.

The solar roof-top plant installed under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is connected to the electricity grid through net metering. Consumers can produce more electricity than their requirement and supply it to the grid, which results in their electricity bill becoming zero and they also get additional income.

Under the scheme, on installing a one kilowatt solar plant, one gets a subsidy of Rs 30 thousand from the central government and Rs 15 thousand from the state government, i.e. a total of Rs 45 thousand. On two kilowatt, one will get a subsidy of Rs 60 thousand from the Central Government and Rs 30 thousand from the State Government, and on installing a three kilowatt solar panel, one will get a subsidy of Rs 78 thousand from the Central Government and Rs 30 thousand from the State Government, i.e. a total of Rs 1 lakh 8 thousand.
