West Bengal Anti Rape Bill: Amid the ongoing uproar in the brutal murder case after the rape of a woman doctor in Kolkata (Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case, today September,3 the Mamata Banerjee government has introduced the Anti Rape Bill (West Bengal Anti Rape Bill) in the Assembly. It has been named Aparajita Woman and Child Bill 2024. While presenting the bill, CM Mamata Banerjee claimed that 7 lakh women were raped in UP, which can create a sensation in the country’s politics. At the same time, the Chief Minister targeted the BJP and said that why does the BJP keep silent where its MLAs themselves are accused of rape.
Mamata Banerjee attacked the BJP and said that why does the BJP maintain silence in cases where its MLAs are themselves accused of rape. It is necessary to answer this too. Justice is a far cry there, even the victim who is raped by the accused is killed.
Bengal CM said that there are many such cases in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Badalpur, Uttarakhand, Odisha and many other places. These are the areas where the culprits were not punished but the victim was killed. You call this justice… you should be ashamed of this kind of justice. Mamata Banerjee further said that we will have to make people more aware. There is a need to increase awareness especially in rape cases. This is very harmful for the society.
What is in this bill
1 )Provision of death penalty in rape, murder cases
2 )This bill will have provision of death penalty within 36 days of filing the charge sheet.
3) Not only rape, acid attack is also an equally serious crime, for which this bill has provision of life imprisonment.
4) A special force- Aparajita Task Force will be formed in every district.
5) This Aparajita Task Force will take action in cases of rape, acid attack or molestation.
6 ) Another very important thing has been added in this bill, that is, if anyone reveals the identity of the victim, strict action will be taken against him too.
