US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace proposal has become a political crisis for Muslim countries. Based on the conditions of Hamas’s disarmament and the US-controlled administration, this plan is being called a “betrayal of the Ummah.” Arab countries, including Pakistan, are strongly opposing it, calling it a “two-state surrender.”

US President Donald Trump’s peace proposal to end the two-year-long Gaza war has now become a political crisis for Muslim countries. Pakistan and several Arab nations are being accused of betraying the Palestinian issue.

Trump’s Gaza peace plan includes the disarmament of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas and the administration of Gaza by a “Board of Peace” headed by the US President. Under the plan, Israel was to withdraw from Gaza in a phased manner, a hostage exchange would take place, and Arab countries would bear the cost of reconstruction.

In return, Palestine was given a vague promise of a future state.

On paper, this proposal appeared like a roadmap, but on the ground, it was labeled a “betrayal of the Ummah.” Muslim countries that had not yet recognized Israel appear to be accepting its existence through this agreement.

Shahbaz Sharif supported Trump’s plan

The government’s alleged approval has faced strong opposition in Pakistan. The Karachi-based Dawn newspaper reported that politicians, journalists, and activists called it a “two-state surrender” that tilts the scales completely in Israel’s favor.

Muslim countries are being called “traitors to the Ummah”

Critics say the deal strips Palestinians of sovereignty, legitimizes the Israeli security blockade after a “genocide,” and places the fate of Gaza at the mercy of the US and Arab countries. For this reason, Muslim countries that accepted this proposal are now being called “traitors to the Ummah.”

Gaza is currently on the brink of devastation and famine. In such circumstances, Trump’s peace proposal is being seen as a trade-off between Palestinians’ right to self-determination for geopolitical bargains.
