41 Maoists surrender in Chhattisgarh; 32 carried rewards worth Rs 1.19 crore

The group included members of PLGA Battalion No. 1, Area Committee Members, Platoon members, Militia Commanders, RPC-linked Janatana Sarkar functionaries, DAKMS and KAMS worker-Photo Crtedit -PTI .

The surrender took place under the state government’s rehabilitation initiative “Poona Margem: Rehabilitation Through Reintegration.” The Naxals included 12 women and 29 men.

Bijapur : In a major success for Chhattisgarh’s anti-Naxal campaign, 41 Naxals surrendered in Bijapur district, giving up violence to join the social mainstream. Officials said 32 of them carried a collective reward of Rs 1.19 crore, including 12 women and 29 men on Thursday November 27 , 2025 early morning.

The surrender took place under the state government’s rehabilitation initiative “Poona Margem: Rehabilitation Through Reintegration.”

Officials confirmed that 39 of the surrendered Naxals belonged to the South Sub-Zonal Bureau, while others were linked to the DKSZC, the Telangana State Committee, and Maoist divisions active in Dhamtari–Gariaband–Nuapada.

Security officials said sustained operations by DRG, Bastar Fighters, STF, CoBRA and CRPF units, combined with rehabilitation policies and the Niyad Nella Naar scheme, motivated the cadres to surrender before senior officers including IG (Bijapur Sector) BS Negi and SP Bijapur Dr Jitendra Kumar Yadav.

According to the data, since January 1, 2025, 528 Maoists have been arrested, 560 have surrendered, and 144 have been killed. In 2024, since January 1, 1,031 were arrested, 790 surrendered, and 202 were killed.

Officials termed the mass surrender a significant step toward long-term peace, dialogue, and development in the Bastar region.
