In Short
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the DGP-IGP Conference has emerged as a forum for addressing the country’s internal security, from problem-solving, challenges, and strategies to policymaking.
In the last seven years, we have strengthened the security perimeter by building 586 fortified police stations. As a result, the number of Naxal-affected districts has reduced from 126 in 2014 to 11.
The Modi government has provided a permanent solution to the problem of Naxalism in the Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir, three hotspots that have been a scourge for the country for the last 40 years. Soon, these areas will become like the rest of the country.
We have strengthened the NIA and UAPA laws, enacted three new criminal laws, and enacted strong laws for narcotics and fugitives.
After the full implementation of the three new criminal laws, India’s security will be strengthened. Policing will be the most modern in the world.
We banned the PFI and raided their hideouts across the country, making arrests, a prime example of central-state coordination.*
We are striking a blow against radicalism, extremism, and narcotics by working on these three principles: accuracy of intelligence, clarity of objective, and synergy of action.*
We must launch a 360-degree attack on narcotics and organized crime, creating a system where narcotraffickers and criminals cannot gain even an inch of ground in this country.*
The time has come for state police, in collaboration with the NCB, to crack down on state, national, and international narcotics synergies and put their leaders in jail.*
Raipur: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the three-day 60th DGsP/IGsP Conference in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
In his address, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the DGP/IGP Conference has emerged as a forum for addressing the country’s internal security, from problem-solving, challenges, and strategies to policy formulation.
Referring to the Modi government’s actionable points against the eradication of Naxalism, the Home Minister said that the Central Government has strengthened the security perimeter by building 586 fortified police stations in the last seven years. As a result, the number of Naxal-affected districts has decreased from 126 in 2014 to just 11 today. The Union Home Minister expressed confidence that the country will be completely free from the problem of Naxalism before the next DGsP/IGsP Conference.
Amit Shah said that the country has been facing the problem of Naxalism for the last 40 years. He stated that the Modi government has provided a permanent solution to the three scourges of the country: Naxalism, the Northeast, and Jammu and Kashmir, and that they will soon be on par with the rest of the country. Highlighting the Modi government’s achievements, the Home Minister stated that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been strengthened, and three new criminal laws, along with stronger laws for narcotics and fugitives, have been enacted. He stated that once the three new criminal laws are fully implemented, India’s policing system will become the most modern in the world.
Referring to the Modi government’s action against terrorism and extremism, the Union Home Minister stated that after the central government banned the Popular Front of India (PFI), raids were conducted at its hideouts across the country and arrests were made, which is a prime example of central-state coordination. He said that the security forces and police are working on three points – accuracy of intelligence, clarity of objective and synergy of action – and are giving a strong blow to radicalism, extremism and narcotics.
The Home Minister reiterated that we have to make a 360 degree attack on narcotics and organized crime and create such a system that narco traders and criminals do not get even an inch of land in this country. He said that now the time has come that the state police, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), should give a strong blow to the state, national and international level narcotics gangs and put their masters in jail.
