MEA: India expresses concern over attacks on minorities in Bangladesh; comments on the protest outside the High Commission.

The Ministry of External Affairs clarified the situation regarding the protest outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi. The ministry stated that there was no security breach, nor any attempt to break through the cordon.

New Delhi : The Ministry of External Affairs has clarified the situation regarding the alleged protest in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in India. The ministry accused some Bangladeshi media outlets of spreading misinformation, stating that no security incident occurred outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Saturday December 20, 2025 .

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in response to media queries, stated that on December 20, 2025, a small group of approximately 20-25 young people gathered in front of the Bangladesh High Commission. They were chanting slogans protesting the brutal murder of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, and demanding protection for minorities in Bangladesh.

MEA’s clear statement:
Randhir Jaiswal said that during this incident, there was no attempt to break through any barricades, nor did any security situation arise. The police deployed at the scene peacefully dispersed the group within minutes. Visual evidence of these events is publicly available. He also said that the incident has been exaggerated and misrepresented in some Bangladeshi media outlets.

Security of Foreign Missions is India’s Responsibility
The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that India is fully committed to ensuring the security of all foreign missions and diplomatic establishments located in its territory, as per the Vienna Convention.

Closely Monitoring the Situation in Bangladesh
The Ministry of External Affairs said that India is continuously monitoring the situation in Bangladesh. Indian officials are in contact with the Bangladeshi administration and have expressed their deep concern over the attacks on minorities. The MEA also urged that those responsible for the murder of Dipu Chandra Das be brought to justice as soon as possible.
