Religious, folk culture, and historical scenes were brought to live through dramatic performances at Pragati College on the Concluding Day of Jazz-26

Raipur (Pragati College ) : On the final day of the “Jazz 2026” cultural program at Pragati College, a fancy dress competition, drama competition, and award ceremony were held. On this occasion, ancient, historical, religious, Western art, and political scenarios were brought to life through unique visual and auditory presentations.

The six-day Jazz program showcased various art forms. Arts play a significant role in the all-round development of students.

The program began with performing Sarasvati Puja, followed by College principal, Dr. Soumya Nayyar address to students, extending her best wishes and hoping for a bright future.

While addressing the students Dr, Soumya Nayyar said that a fancy dress competition reflects the love and appreciation for the cultures of various states, showcasing the unity of the entire country. Students connect with the rich Indian culture.

Today’s program was divided into junior and senior groups, with both groups giving outstanding performances.

The junior group presented the nine forms of Goddess Durga .

Ghanendra Patel and his group presented a very entertaining performance of the famous Chhattisgarhi folk song, portraying the characters of “Chandwa Baiga and ghosts,” which captivated the audience. Dharmendra Dewangan introduced the audience to a character from the South Indian film “I.” Dhananjay, Dheeraj, Aman, Prajal, and Shrujan skillfully portrayed “zombie costumes” and frightened everyone with their performances.

Deepika Shanskar presented a performance based on “Gangubai Kathiawadi.” Tanu Dewangan donned the Srivalli costume from the film Pushpa. Shyamali Bopche captivated everyone with her portrayal and dialogue as “Rani Padmavati” from the Bollywood film Padmavat.

From the senior group, Anushree Parmale embodied the character of Savitribai Phule. Akanksha Sharma depicted the “Constitution of India” through her costume.

Additionally, students portrayed various characters, including Annabelle from Hollywood, a tribal woman, and a woman from Chhattisgarh, which turned out to be very encouraging and a major highlight of the event.

The second phase of the program featured a drama competition.

On this occasion, students presented plays based on various themes. All the students showcased their amazing talent, skill, and acting abilities. They depicted themes such as awareness about education, women’s empowerment, and Chhattisgarh culture.

The chief judge for this competition was Gaurav Sahu encouraged all the participating students and shared his experiences with them.

In the third phase of the program, students were awarded prizes for their performances, encouraging them to value their talents in all aspects of life. The six-day Jazz 2026 theatrical program, encompassing educational, cultural, and artistic competitions, concluded today. Jazz 2026 was organised to nurture the talents of young people.

The success of the program was made possible by the commendable efforts of Dr. K. N. Gajpal, Head of the Education Department; Mannu Rawani, Head of the Computer Department; Dr. Amit Thakur, Head of the Commerce and Management Department; Dr. Praveen Kumar Yadav, Head of the Journalism Department; Administrator Jyoti Thakur; and the faculty members and students.
