The event got enthralled with students colorful performance at Pragati College’s annual festival.
Pragati College’s annual festival 2026 was held on Thursday February 19, 2026 , at the Shaheed Smarak Bhawan, in the presence of Chief Guests, the Honorable Raipur Mayor Meenal Chaubey and Shashank Sharma, President of Chhattisgarh Sahitya Academy, Raipur.
Special guests on the occasion were Rajiv Vora, Secretary of Chhattisgarh Shiksha Samiti, and Dr. Shruti Jha, Advisor.
While addressing the gathering Chief Guest Mayor Meenal Chaubey said that today’s students will contribute to the nation’s future development. She urged students to diligently embrace the education they receive and integrate it into their lives. Through education, contribute to your city, district, and state. It is also your responsibility to safeguard the ongoing development efforts in the city. Congratulating the students, she wished them a bright future.
The special guest on the occasion Shashank Sharma, President of the Chhattisgarh Sahitya Academy, said that just as Daunacharya ji is known for his determination and dedication like Arjuna, similarly, students also bring glory to the entire college through their achievements. Therefore, students should be dedicated to their goals.
Rajiv Vora, Secretary of the College Governing Committee, extended his heartfelt greetings for the Progress Festival, stating that education is not only a means of knowledge but also a means of holistic personality development. Therefore, students should not only dream but also work hard with dedication to achieve their dreams. College advisor Dr. Shruti Jha advised students to have the courage to dream big and be determined to achieve them.
Principal Dr. Soumya Nayyar presented the annual report and provided an overview of the college’s annual activities. She also congratulated the college’s brilliant students and wished them well for their future endeavors. She provided information about the college’s activities throughout the year.
Dr. Nayyar further stated that the college’s academic results remain excellent due to the hard work and dedication of the faculty and students.
The colorful cultural performances presented during the welcome ceremony captivated the audience.
A blend of Indian classical dance and Western culture presented a new style. Theses dances and music program brought together traditional dances forms like Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and Manipuri. Folk dances from various states of the country were presented in traditional costumes.
The students showcased their amazing art through the dance ” Lord Shiva Stuti.” The dance to the song “Adharam Madhuram” moved everyone. The glory of the nine forms of “Maa Kali Mahakali” was depicted through acting. Following this, the audience was enthralled with a captivating performance of Bollywood and regional dances, including Punjabi, South Indian, and hip-hop.
In the Krishna Leela, the unwavering love of Rukmini and Satyabhama was presented through dance forms . The Pachara song gave voice to the divine beauty of the Mother Goddess’s adornment and fierce form through songs.
Following this, on the auspicious occasion of Holi, a Phag song was sung and a small Shyam Kanhaiya, playing the flute, filled the atmosphere with glowing colors.
The group performance of musical instruments at Pragati Utsav 2026, filled with dance and music, brought the audience to a roaring applause. The most captivating cultural program was presented on the Halloween theme, in which music, dance, and the rainbow of nine rasas filled the auditorium.
At the event, students from the 2025-26 session were honored for their various activities, including academics, cultural activities, Awards and honors were given for outstanding contributions to sports.
n a special category, awards were given to Best Scholar Gurkit Singh (BCA 3rd Year 2024-25), Best Student Shreya Agarwal (B.Com 3rd Year 2025-26), Best Jazz Performer (Male) Pranay Soni (B.Com 2nd Year 2025-26), Best Jazz Performer (Female) Ankaksha Sharma (B.Ed 2nd Year 2025-26), and Best Sportsperson Aarti Sahitya (PGDCA).
Best Achiever in Journalism Ved Prakash Sahu (BAJMC 3rd Year 2024-26), Best Achiever in Diploma Course Dhanshyam (D.El.Ed 2nd Year 2024-26) were awarded.
