Raman Kumar from a remote village in Balrampur proves that determination, discipline and self-belief can overcome every obstacle
Raipur : In an inspiring story of perseverance and determination, Raman Kumar, the son of a farmer from Udersai village in Shankargarh block of Balrampur district, has cleared the NEET-2026 examination through self-study, demonstrating that limited resources need not stand in the way of extraordinary dreams.
Hailing from a remote tribal region of Chhattisgarh, Raman achieved success without enrolling in any private coaching institute. Instead, he relied on disciplined self-study, consistent hard work and an unwavering belief in his abilities while studying at the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Kusmi.
His remarkable achievement has become a source of pride not only for his family but also for his village and the entire district.

Recognising his accomplishment, Balrampur Collector Chandan Sanjay Tripathi felicitated Raman at the District Collectorate and presented him with a memento, congratulating him on bringing laurels to the district and wishing him success in his future medical career.
Coming from a modest farming family, Raman’s parents have sustained the household through agriculture. Despite financial challenges, they remained committed to supporting their son’s education.
From Class VI onwards, Raman studied at the Eklavya Model Residential School, where he steadily worked towards his dream of becoming a doctor. Without access to costly coaching classes, he built his preparation around regular revision, disciplined routines and focused self-learning.

Raman’s father, Rajesh Kumar, said his son is the first student from their village to qualify for NEET. The achievement has sparked celebrations throughout the community and inspired many young students to believe that national-level success is within their reach.

During the felicitation ceremony, Raman encouraged fellow students to remain focused on their goals and not become discouraged by difficult circumstances.
