Chief Minister says tougher law will strengthen action against exam mafias, paper leaks and organised malpractice while protecting the future of honest students
Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has on Wednesday July 29, 2026 welcomed the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, describing it as a landmark reform aimed at safeguarding the future of millions of students and restoring confidence in India’s competitive examination system.
The Chief Minister said the amendment reflects the Central Government’s commitment to ensuring that merit, hard work and honesty remain the sole criteria for success in public examinations.

Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Government has consistently introduced reforms to protect the aspirations of young people while strengthening transparency and accountability across public institutions.
According to the Chief Minister, competitive examinations represent years of dedication, sacrifice and hope for millions of aspirants. Any attempt to manipulate the examination process through question paper leaks, organised cheating or criminal networks not only harms deserving candidates but also weakens public confidence in the education system.

The amendment introduces stricter penal provisions against those involved in examination-related offences, including organised examination mafias, paper leak syndicates and individuals participating in unfair means. It also strengthens accountability among examination-conducting agencies and service providers to ensure greater transparency and reliability.
Sai noted that the amendment complements several youth-centric initiatives of the Central Government, including the National Education Policy, skill development programmes, employment generation initiatives and digital governance reforms.
He said these measures collectively seek to create an education ecosystem where merit is rewarded and deserving candidates can compete on a level playing field.
