Big announcement: Union Cabinet approves new PAN card with QR code, the scheme is named PAN 2.0
The Union Cabinet has made many big announcements on Monday November 25 , 2024 . Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in the cabinet briefing that the government has approved PAN 2.0, under which Permanent Account Number (PAN) with QR code will be upgraded for free.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the PAN 2.0 project of the Income Tax Department. He said that PAN will not change but a new card with QR card will be available for free.
