BSF and police jointly exposed drug smuggling racket, one gets arrested

Tarn Taran: BSF and Punjab Police jointly have got a big success on Wednesday September 4 morning. BSF and Punjab Police have busted a drug smuggling racket and arrested a major drug peddler. BSF and Punjab Police jointly acted on the basis of an intelligence input. Based on the information, they identified a suspected drug smuggler who was active in the border area of ​​​​Punjab. BSF Punjab Frontier posted this information on ‘X’.

Let us inform you that BSF and Punjab Police conducted a joint operation in village Dal of Tarn Taran district, resulting in the arrest of a drug smuggler. On interrogation, the suspect gave important information, after which a targeted search was conducted. It is being said that during the special operation, the security forces monitored the activities of the suspect and raided his hideout.

During the raid, they recovered a huge amount of drugs, which made it clear that the accused is part of a larger network. A joint search operation has been launched in another area after the disclosure of the caught smuggler. At that place, the search team recovered a packet of heroin weighing 678 grams. The packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape. The department said that this successful recovery shows coordinated efforts by the BSF and Punjab Police.

It also highlights the effectiveness of intensive interrogation. Let us also inform you that recently the BSF had sought deployment of an additional battalion on the Punjab front of the India-Pakistan border to prevent cross-border drone attacks carrying drugs and ammunition and to curb infiltration. The force currently has about 20 battalions to guard the more than 500 km long front, of which 18 are ‘actively deployed’ on the border, while the rest have been deployed at the Attari Integrated Check Post in Amritsar and Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district to meet the requirements of the Kartarpur corridor.
