By-Elections: The election bugle has sounded for the Maharashtra-Jharkhand Assembly Election. Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission Rajiv Kumar announced the dates of the assembly elections of both the states in a press conference. Along with this, the commission has also announced by-elections on 48 assembly seats of 13 states. Voting will be held simultaneously on 13 November on 47 assembly seats of 13 states. Along with this, by-elections will also be held on 2 Lok Sabha seats. By-elections will be held on November 13 in Wayanad, Kerala and on November 20 in Nanded Lok Sabha seat of Maharashtra. Voting will be held on November 20 on one assembly seat, Kedarnath seat. The result of all will be declared on November 23 along with the Maharashtra-Jharkhand election results.
Out of the 48 assembly seats, Uttar Pradesh has the most number of seats (9), out of which one seat, Milkipur, will not have a by-election yet. These include 7 assembly seats from Rajasthan, 6 from West Bengal, 5 from Assam, 4 from Bihar, 4 from Punjab, 3 from Karnataka, 2 from Kerala, 2 from Madhya Pradesh, 2 from Sikkim, 1 from Gujarat, 1 from Uttarakhand and 1 from Chhattisgarh.
Out of 48 assembly seats, 42 MLAs have become MPs. These include the highest number of 11 from Congress, 9 from BJP, 5 each from SP-TMC and 12 from other parties. Out of the remaining 6 seats, three seats fell vacant due to death. The seat fell vacant due to SP MLA going to jail, resignation of 2 in Sikkim and one MLA changing party in Madhya Pradesh.
By-elections on 4 assembly seats of Bihar on November 13
Voting will be held on November 13 on four assembly seats of Bihar. Counting of votes will be done on November 23. The Election Commission has announced the dates for the by-elections today. Tarari, Ramgarh, Belaganj and Imamganj assembly seats are vacant in Bihar. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, MLAs of these four seats have reached the Lok Sabha. These four seats have become vacant after the victory of RJD’s Sudhakar Singh in Ramgarh, CPI ML’s Sudama Prasad in Tarari, RJD’s Surendra Yadav in Belaganj and HAM’s Jitan Ram Manjhi in Imamganj in the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission on Tuesday October 15 announced the dates for elections in 48 assembly and 2 parliamentary constituencies along with Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections.
By-elections announced on 9 seats in UP, no mention of Milkipur seat
The Election Commission has announced voting on 9 seats for the by-elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh, but the dates for the most talked-about Milkipur seat have not been announced. By-elections were to be held on a total of 10 seats in UP.
