Arvind Kejriwal proposed her name in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Legislature Party meeting on Tuesday September 17 . The MLAs agreed to this. After Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s young leader Atishi (43) will sit on the throne of Delhi CM. As much as Atishi is known for her gentle and calm image, she has also been associated with controversies. Atishi’s religion and caste (surname) have made a lot of headlines. These include Atishi Marlena Singh to Atishi Singh, Atishi Marlena and Atishi. She has been described as anything from Christian to Kshatriya and Rajput. So let’s know the real fact…
Atishi, born on June 8, 1981 in the national capital, had told during a press conference (PC) in the year 2019 that she is a Punjabi Rajput. She had said, “I am from a Punjabi Hindu family. I am a Kshatriya. My last name (surname) is taken from Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin. I have been given this surname by my parents, who are inclined towards left ideology. During the same PC, Atishi also informed that her father’s name is Vijay Singh, while her husband’s name is Praveen Singh.
I the year n 2018, Atishi removed the surname Marlena from all social media platforms and all types of publicity material. After this move of the AAP leader, some leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused her of being a Christian. In clarification of this big allegation of the opposition party, Atishi said, “Since BJP is polarising the elections, I want to stop it. This is the reason why she stopped writing the surname Marlena and started using only Atishi.
This is how Atishi’s name kept changing
At first Atishi used to use Singh as her surname. Her father is Vijay Singh.
Later, due to her parents having left ideology, she started using a new surname, which is made up of the names of Marx and Lenin. It was Marlena, which she had to drop later.
The man Atishi is married to is also a Singh. So her name became Atishi Marlena Singh. However, she could not continue using this name for long.
Atishi had to remove the surname Marlena due to controversy. Currently, she only writes Atishi. She does not use any surname with her name.
