Raipur: Govindlal Vora Library was inaugurated in a dignified ceremony organised at the Press Club premises on Sunday April 13, 2025 in memory of the country’s legendry journalist and editor late Govindlal Vora. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh was the chief guest at the ceremony organised in the special presence of Gyannpith Award-winning poet-storyteller Vinod Kumar Shukla. Former MLA Arun Vora presided over the function. While Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra, senior journalists of Madhya Pradesh Umesh Trivedi and Arun Patel and Amrit Sandesh’s editor-in-chief Girish Vora were present as special guests.

Addressing the function, Chief Guest Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh remembered late Govindlal Vora and said that his entire life was dedicated to journalism. His modesty is an example. He said that Voraji never asked me for any work during my tenure as Chief Minister and before that. He was such a journalist whose simplicity will always inspire young journalists. Dr. Singh announced to give Rs. 1 lakh from Swanidhi for books in the library. He said that the amount for the books will be transferred within 30 days. He praised the efforts of Raipur Press Club and said that journalists will get good reading facilities through the library.

Special guest senior journalist Umesh Trivedi said, even though he is from Madhya Pradesh, the DNA of journalism in both the states has been the same. He praised the efforts of Raipur Press Club. Former MLA Arun Vora, who was presiding over the function, also highlighted the utility of the library and appreciated the efforts of the Press Club.

On the occasion, renowned litterateur Vinod Kumar Shukla, who has been awarded the Gyanpith Award, shared his experiences underlining the importance of books and reading and writing. He inspired journalists to read and write.


Raipur Press Club President Prafull Thakur shared the plan to build a video production studio and photo gallery in the Press Club in the coming days. He also urged journalists, especially young journalists, to make good use of the Raipur Press Club library. On this occasion, he announced that the Press Club will take the responsibility of publishing two books every year on journalists writing books. He also informed about the plans for giving fellowship and journalism awards to journalists.
Raipur Press Club General Secretary Vaibhav Shiv Pandey also inspired journalists to read books in the library, and also said that very soon all types of books will be available in the library. Earlier, Gyanpith Award-winning poet and storyteller Vinod Kumar Shukla was honored. On this occasion, Raipur Press Club Vice President Sandeep Shukla, Treasurer Raman Halwai, Joint Secretary Tripti Soni and Arvind Sonwani along with eminent personalities from political, social, education and journalism fields were present.
