The central government has decided to create 5 new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Home Minister Amit Shah said that the names of these districts will be Drass, Zanskar, Sham, Changthang and Nubra. The Home Minister said that to fulfill the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make Ladakh prosperous, the Home Ministry has decided to create 5 new districts.
This will provide better administration and services to the people of Ladakh. The Modi government is committed to providing opportunities for the people of Ladakh.
With the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, the state was divided into 2 union territories. Ladakh became a separate union territory after this. At present, there were only 2 districts in Ladakh. One Kargil and the other Leh. At the same time, with the new districts, the total number will be 7. Ladakh became a union territory on 31 October 2019.
Kargil district of Ladakh is Muslim-dominated. People here depend on the Indus River and agriculture for livelihood. Ladakh falls in the Trans-Hilay region. There is only one airport in Leh, Ladakh. Its name is Kushok Bakula Rimpochi Airport. There is heavy snowfall in Ladakh during the winter season. Here in Leh district, Boti is spoken and in Kargil, Hindu, Urdu, Purkhi and English are spoken. Boti is a Tibetan language. Tourism is the main source of revenue in Ladakh. Zanskar district is named after the lake. There is a lake named Zanskar here.
