In West Bengal’s Falta Assembly constituency, allegations have surfaced against Trinamool candidate Jahangir Khan for intimidating voters. IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma, who is deployed for election duty, issued a stern warning, stating that strict action would be taken if further complaints were received. During the investigation, 14 police personnel were found deployed at Jahangir’s residence.

According to reports, Ajay Pal Sharma is currently deployed on election duty in West Bengal. Over the past few days, complaints had been received from the general public alleging that Jahangir Khan, the Trinamool candidate from the Falta Assembly constituency, was continuously intimidating voters.

Police, too, failed to provide accurate information regarding the house
Acting on these complaints, Ajay Pal Sharma arrived at the scene, but Jahangir Khan was not found there. Neither the locals nor even the local police provided accurate information regarding the location of his house. Subsequently, during a search operation, his team located Jahangir’s residence.
14 Personnel Deployed for Security
When the team arrived at the location, they found 14 personnel from the West Bengal Police deployed outside the house for security duty. In response, Ajay Pal Sharma sought an explanation from the local Superintendent of Police. The SP clarified that Jahangir Khan has been accorded ‘Y’ category security cover, and a contingent of 10 police personnel has been allotted for his protection.

In response, Ajay Pal Sharma raised questions regarding how 14 personnel came to be deployed at the scene. He issued a notice to the local SP, seeking an explanation as to the grounds on which the four additional police personnel were deployed.

Furthermore, a stern warning was issued to Jahangir Khan’s nephew and other relatives. Officials stated that if any complaints were received regarding the intimidation of voters or interference in the electoral process, strict action would be taken. This matter has now become a subject of discussion concerning issues of electoral fairness and administrative accountability.
