Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Christmas celebration organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), said that this occasion, this day is going to be memorable for all of us. This occasion is also special because this year marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of CBCI. I congratulate all the people associated with CBCI. I am fortunate that I have always received affection from you. I also get the same affection from Pope Francis. During the G7 meeting in Italy, I met him. This was my second meeting with him in three years. I also invited him to come to India.
Addressing the Christmas celebrations organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it was a very satisfying moment for me when we brought Father Alexis Prem Kumar back safely from war-torn Afghanistan a decade ago. He was trapped there in great distress for eight months, held hostage. Our government made every possible effort to get him out of there. For us, all these missions are not just diplomatic missions, but an emotional commitment to bring back family members. Today’s India brings together every son of India, no matter what difficult situation they are trapped in.
During this, PM Modi further said that the Bible says – carry each other’s burden. Our institutions and organisations work with this motto. Jesus Christ showed the world the path of compassion and selfless service. Today the country is moving forward with the common goal of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas’. We have made sensitivity a criterion of work.
