PM Modi Trinidad and Tobago Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first foreign leader to be awarded ‘The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’ by the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This is the 25th international honour given to Prime Minister Modi by any country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Friday July 4, 2025 (IST) awarded Trinidad and Tobago’s highest civilian honour ‘The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’. This honour was given to him for his global leadership ability, deep connection with the Indian diaspora community and humanitarian efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Let us tell you that PM Modi is currently on a tour of five countries and this two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago is his second stop. After receiving the honour, he said, ‘I am proud to be honoured with the highest honour of Trinidad and Tobago. I accept this honour on behalf of 140 crore Indians.’
PM Modi’s first visit to Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamala Persad-Bissessar announced this honor on Thursday July 3, 2025 . She described Prime Minister Modi’s visit as a symbol of shared pride and historical relationship between the two countries. This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Trinidad and Tobago. Also, this is the first bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister to this country since 1999.
Ghana also honored PM Modi
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi visited Ghana, where he was awarded the national honor named ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the honor given by Ghana was given to PM Modi for his ‘excellent diplomatic leadership and influential global role’. This visit of the Prime Minister is considered to further strengthen his leadership in India as well as on the global stage.
