PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet approves the ‘PM Tribal Advanced Village Campaign’

New Delhi : In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the ‘Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan’. (‘PM Tribal Advanced Village Campaign)’ Under this campaign, a budget provision of Rs 79,156 crore has been made to saturate tribal families in tribal-dominated villages and aspiring districts and to improve the socio-economic condition of tribal communities. Which includes Rs 56,333 crore of the Central Government and Rs 22,823 crore of the State Government.

About 63 thousand villages will be included under this campaign. In which more than five crore tribal people will get benefits. Chhattisgarh’s Tribal, Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Classes and Minority Development Minister Ramvichar Netam has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Council of Ministers for this.

He has said that the share of tribes in the population of Chhattisgarh is one-third. The implementation of this scheme will increase the basic facilities in tribal-dominated villages, which will help in raising the standard of living of the people. It is worth mentioning that according to the 2011 census, the population of Scheduled Tribes in India is 10.45 crores and there are more than 705 tribal communities across the country, who live in remote and inaccessible areas. The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan (‘PM Tribal Advanced Village Campaign)’ is to fill the critical gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, livelihoods through various schemes of the Government of India and ensure holistic and sustainable development of tribal areas and communities based on the learnings and success of PM Janman.
