In Short

  • Government to hold an all-party consultation on July 19 .
  • Political parties preparing their parliamentary agenda.
  • Opposition expected to coordinate strategy on major national issues.
  • Government likely to prioritise legislative business during the session.
  • Parliament poised for an eventful and closely watched sitting.

Consensus efforts begin before the session, while rival parties fine-tune their strategies for a politically charged debate

New Delhi: Parliament is set to return to the centre of national attention as political activity gathers pace ahead of the Monsoon Session. In preparation for the upcoming proceedings, the Union Government has initiated consultations with political parties through an all-party meeting scheduled before the session begins, signalling its intent to build consensus on legislative business.

At the same time, Opposition parties have intensified internal discussions, preparing a coordinated strategy to raise issues they believe deserve immediate parliamentary attention. The developments indicate that the session is likely to witness vigorous debates alongside the government’s legislative agenda.

The all-party meeting is expected to provide a platform for leaders across the political spectrum to exchange views on the functioning of Parliament and the smooth conduct of business. Such consultations traditionally offer an opportunity to minimise procedural disruptions while allowing parties to outline their priorities before formal proceedings commence.

On the political front, Opposition leaders have been holding consultations aimed at presenting a united approach inside both Houses. Several parties are expected to coordinate their interventions on governance, economic concerns and other matters of national importance, setting the stage for an assertive parliamentary campaign.

For the government, the Monsoon Session represents an opportunity to advance key legislative proposals and seek wider political support. For the Opposition, it offers a platform to question policies, demand accountability and articulate public concerns.

As Parliament prepares to reconvene, expectations are high that the coming session will feature both substantial legislative work and spirited democratic debate. Whether the focus remains on policy-making or political confrontation will depend on how effectively consensus-building efforts translate into productive proceedings.
