Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi’s convoy returned to Delhi, was not allowed to go to Sambhal , the Leader of Opposition said – This is the new India, this is the India that destroys the Constitution

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi have been stopped by the UP Police at the Ghazipur border. He was going to Sambhal from Delhi along with other Congress leaders. The Uttar Pradesh Police did not allow them to go further, after which thousands of Congress leaders and workers, including Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi, have left for Delhi. The Congress has strongly objected to this.

Rahul Gandhi said –

“We are trying to go to Sambhal, but the police are not allowing. As the leader of the opposition, it is my right to go but still they are stopping me. Even I said that I am ready to go alone, I am ready to go with the police but they did not agree to this either. Now they are saying that if we come back in a few days, they will let us go. This is against the rights of the leader of the opposition, they should let me go. This is against the Constitution, we just want to go to Sambhal, meet the people and see what happened there. I am not being given my constitutional rights. This is the new India, this is the India that destroys the Constitution, we will keep fighting.”

Priyanka Gandhi said-

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said that Rahul Gandhi is the Leader of the Opposition. It is his constitutional and moral right to go to Sambhal. He should be allowed to go there. The police, who have barricaded the Ghazipur border and blocked the way, should also clarify why the Leader of the Opposition is not being allowed to meet the violence-affected families.

It is worth mentioning that Rahul Gandhi had announced on Tuesday December 3, 2024 to go to Sambhal to meet the families of those who died in the violence. After which the Sambhal administration rejected his demand. Also, all the districts adjoining Delhi were ordered that under no circumstances should Rahul Gandhi and other leaders come to Sambhal. The Sambhal administration has prohibited any outsider from going to the violence-affected area till December 10, 2024.
