President Draupadi Murmu addressed the nation on Saturday on the eve of the 76th Republic Day. In her address, the President said, ‘My dear countrymen, Namaskar! I extend my heartfelt greetings to all of you on the eve of Republic Day. India, one of the oldest civilizations in the world, was considered the origin of knowledge and wisdom but India had to go through a dark period… On this day, first of all we remember those brave warriors who made the biggest sacrifices to free the motherland from the shackles of foreign rule… This year we are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He is among such leading freedom fighters, whose role is now being given due importance in the context of national history.

‘Values ​​of life have always been a part of our civilization and culture’

President Murmu further said, justice, freedom, equality and fraternity are not just theoretical concepts that we have been introduced to in the modern era. These values ​​of life have always been a part of our civilization and culture. The reflection of the republican values ​​of India is seen in the structure of our Constituent Assembly.

‘The government has given a new definition to public welfare’

President Murmu further said, the government has given a new definition to public welfare according to which basic needs like housing and drinking water have been considered as rights. The poverty of the people of Scheduled Castes is being rapidly reduced by creating employment and income opportunities through the Prime Minister Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Yojana. The way the government has used technology in the field of finance is an example. The decision to implement the Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act in place of the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Indian Evidence Act is most notable.

Regional languages ​​are being promoted – President

During this, the President said – Many encouraging efforts are being made in the field of culture to preserve our traditions and customs and infuse new energy into them. I am happy that the work of India’s first archaeological experiential museum is about to be completed in Vadnagar, Gujarat. Regional languages ​​are being promoted as a medium of instruction at various levels of education. The President said, with growing confidence, we are increasing our participation in cutting-edge research on the strength of many efforts.

‘ISRO’s major achievements in space science’

On this occasion, the President also praised the achievements of ISRO and the performance of the players. He said, the Indian Space Research Organization has achieved great achievements in the field of space science in recent years. On the strength of significant and remarkable progress in various fields, we are moving towards the future with our heads held high. In the year 2024, D. Gukesh created history by becoming the youngest world champion ever.
