Raipur : Students of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University’s hostel staged a half naked protest in the campus at midnight over caste discrimination. Students said that they were harassed and were being made to do personal work. Students say that the Registrar has threatens them. The Warden harasses them.
The matter is of Ravi Vishwavidyalaya’s Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad hostel.
During at late night , instead of staying in the hostel, the students spent the whole night under the statue of Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla. They are adamant on the demand of FIR and strict action against warden Kamlesh Shukla.
Students’ allegations
The students of Azad hostel have written a letter to the Chairman of Ravishankar Shukla University ‘s Prevention Committee, MP and Minister among others. They said that the hostel superintendent and associate professor of Biotechnology department Dr. Kamlesh Shukla have harassed the students.
The Registrar threatened
The students allege that Registrar Shailendra Patel and Superintendent Kamlesh Shukla are friends. The warden threatens them citing this. Apart from this, it is written in the letter that on September 9, after the evening aarti of Lord Ganesha installed in the hostel, the Registrar also threatened them. After his departure, the superintendent taunted them by saying that he would show the power.
The superintendent was removed from the post, but the students are still unhappy
The students had demanded the removal of Professor Kamlesh Shukla from the post. The university administration has taken action and ordered an inquiry. Professor Shukla has also been removed from the post, but the students are not satisfied with this action.
The students say that on the basis of the physical and mental exploitation that they have faced for the last 3 months, disciplinary action should be taken against the hostel superintendent and an FIR should also be lodged. The students are now adamant on demanding a police complaint.
Allegations of intimidation are baseless – Registrar
Registrar Shailendra Patel said that I am the Registrar of the University. Shukla ji is a professor. There is no question of friendship or enmity in this. I did not threaten anyone. All these are baseless allegations .
