Raipur: A seven-day photo exhibition that brought together Chhattisgarh’s freedom struggle, cultural heritage and contemporary development journey concluded at the historic Town Hall at Kachahari Chowk in Raipur on Friday August 21, 2026 , with students emerging as some of its most enthusiastic visitors.
Organised by the Chhattisgarh Department of Public Relations from August 15 to 21, the exhibition sought to go beyond a conventional display of photographs. Historical images and documents were combined with digital technology, an interactive quiz and visual presentations of government programmes, offering visitors a journey from the state’s contribution to the freedom movement to its present-day development initiatives.

For school students in particular, the exhibition provided an opportunity to encounter in visual form subjects they usually study in textbooks.
Photographs and historical material documented Mahatma Gandhi’s visits to Chhattisgarh, the contribution of the region to the freedom movement and the struggles and sacrifices of freedom fighters.
A dedicated section on 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ traced the national song’s historical journey and its role in inspiring nationalist sentiment during India’s freedom struggle.
History Meets Technology for Young Visitors
One of the exhibition’s distinctive features was the use of artificial intelligence to engage younger visitors.
Students could use AI-enabled technology to create digital photographs against backgrounds depicting Chhattisgarh’s tourism and religious destinations. The experience provided a contemporary way of introducing young visitors to the state’s cultural and tourism heritage.

The enthusiasm of students was also visible around the Chhattisgarhi Veer Quiz, an interactive exercise based on the state’s history, culture, traditions, tourism and achievements. Students participated in teams, testing their knowledge while learning more about Chhattisgarh.
On the concluding day, 54 students from Swami Atmanand Government English School, Shaheed Smarak, Fafadih, visited the exhibition.
Students including Aishwarya Yadav, Divyanshu Adil, Avantika Singh, Nancy Sahu and Tina Janghel described the visit as an interesting and unusual learning experience that they would remember.
The exhibition did not restrict itself to history.
Photographs and information also presented the state’s development initiatives, including the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Krishak Unnati Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, along with programmes connected with education, skill development, employment and social security.
Displays highlighted initiatives concerning women, farmers, young people, workers and economically vulnerable families, while other sections covered Su-Shasan Tihar, environmental initiatives, road and railway connectivity, infrastructure, investment and emerging employment opportunities.
A documentary presentation offered visitors another perspective on Chhattisgarh’s development journey and welfare programmes.
Teachers accompanying the students said exhibitions of this nature could help the younger generation develop a stronger understanding of history, patriotism and their cultural heritage.
The seven-day event ultimately brought two narratives together under one roof — the history that shaped Chhattisgarh and the development aspirations intended to shape its future.
For the young visitors who filled the Town Hall on its concluding day, that combination of photographs, technology and participation turned the exhibition from a static display into an educational experience.
