US Presidential Election: The world’s oldest democratic country, America, will vote today to elect its 47th president. Voting for the presidential election is taking place in America todayon Tuesday , November , 2024 . There is a direct contest between Republican Party’s Donald Trump and Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris for the post of president. America’s 19 crore voters will elect the new president. More than 7.5 crore voters have already exercised their franchise for the US presidential election. About 60% of the voters can take part in today’s voting.
Voting begins in America’s Guam Island
Voting has begun at 7 am on November 5 2024 in America’s Guam Island, but voters here do not get a chance to elect the President, because Guam has no electoral college vote. Guam residents are voting to elect a non-voting representative in the House of Representatives, State Senate, State Supreme Court, intermediate appellate courts and municipal governments. Voting is also taking place for the post of Auditor, State Board of Education and Utilities Commission.

About 24 states of America said that they are ready to send National Guard troops to Washington before the swearing-in ceremony after the presidential election. According to reports, the US Capitol may once again fall prey to violence around the swearing-in ceremony. In such a situation, security agencies are already preparing to prevent it.
James Barnacle, Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI’s Criminal Division, said that during the election week, the agency is operating a “National Election Command Post” from its national headquarters. 80 employees will be deployed in it 24 hours a day. All of them will keep an eye on criminal threats such as threats to election workers, cyber attacks and violence during the election.
How will the votes be counted and when will the results come
According to US time, voting will be completed by 7 pm on November 5 (Indian time 4:30 am on November 6). After this the counting of votes will start. Usually the results come 1 day after voting. In the 2020 elections, the results were out 4 days after voting. Actually, due to Kovid 19, about 60% of the people voted through mail. This took more time to count the votes. This time the election results can come in 1 to 2 days.
When counting, the difference in votes between the candidates is high, so the results come out quickly. If there is a difference of more than 50 thousand votes between the two candidates in a state and only 20 thousand votes are left to count, then the leading candidate is declared the winner. This helps in getting the results quickly. If the victory margin between the two is less, then according to American law, re-counting will be done to confirm the results.
