In a detailed statement in the Assembly on Tuesday March 18, 2025 the violence in Nagpur , Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that 12 two-wheelers were damaged in the violence. 33 policemen were injured, out of which 3 are DCP level officers. One DCP was even attacked with an axe. 5 contingents of SRPF have been deployed to maintain law and order in the area.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has condemned the violence in Nagpur. He said that this violence and riots seem pre-planned. No one is allowed to disturb law and order. Peace should be maintained in Maharashtra. The CM said that 33 policemen were injured in the violence, including 3 DCP level officers. And 12 two-wheelers were damaged.
Speaking in the assembly on Nagpur violence, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said, ‘Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal protested in Nagpur. After the protest, a rumor was spread, which gained momentum in the evening. In which it was said that there was a religious symbol on the sheet placed on a symbolic grave… this rumor heated up the matter and incidents of violence took place. This seems to be a well-planned attack. No one is allowed to take law and order in their own hands.’
’12 vehicles damaged’
The Chief Minister said that 12 two-wheelers were damaged in this violence and there was a gathering of 80 to 100 people at the spot. The severity of the violence can be gauged from the fact that four-wheelers including a crane and two JCBs were burnt. Apart from this, some people were also attacked with swords.
DCP attacked with an axe: CM
He also said that 33 policemen were injured during the violence, including 3 DCP level officers. Along with this, 5 civilians were also attacked. A DCP was even attacked with an axe.
5 FIRs registered
Chief Minister Fadnavis also informed that 5 crimes have been registered in connection with this entire incident. Along with this, curfew has been imposed in 11 police station areas in view of security. 5 contingents of SRPF have been deployed to maintain law and order.
CM appeals for peace
The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace and also said that the state government will take strict action in this matter and the culprits will not be spared. He appreciated the steps taken by the police and assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits of this violence.
‘Attacks on police will not be tolerated’
The CM said that attacks on police will not be tolerated, strict action will be taken. These violent incidents and riots seem to be pre-planned.
He also said that the recently released film Chhava has incited people’s anger against Aurangzeb, yet everyone should maintain peace in Maharashtra
At the same time, the police has taken action in this case and arrested 50 people. These people have been arrested after being identified in the CCTV footage.
