The only punishment is death… Bengal government will bring a new law on rape, got approval from the cabinet

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is facing criticism from all quarters for the Kolkata incident and opposition from the BJP in the state, has made a big announcement. Mamata Banerjee has said amid the state-wide bandh called by the BJP that the government will call a session of the Legislative Assembly next week. In this, a bill will be passed within 10 days to ensure death penalty for rapists. We will send this bill to the Governor.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made this announcement at a time when BJP is continuously pressurizing her for resignation in the state. BJP has called for a bandh on August 28 . Violence has also been reported from many places during the bandh. Police had to use force in Nabanna March on one day. CBI is now investigating the case of rape and murder of a lady doctor in RG Kar Hospital. Mamata Banerjee had earlier written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue. In this, she had said that comprehensive initiatives are needed to ensure women’s safety. Banerjee had said in this that on an average 90 rape incidents occur in the country. After the Kolkata incident, TMC is continuously demanding that the culprits be hanged.

Hanging is the only option
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday August 28 said that the only appropriate punishment for crimes like the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor is ‘hanging’. She also accused the BJP of trying to derail the investigation into the heinous murder. Mamata Banerjee said that the Bengal government wanted to complete the investigation within 7 days, but the CBI has not yet solved the case. Banerjee said that the Bengal government will pass a new bill on anti-rape law in the state assembly.
