Bilaspur. A public interest litigation filed in the High Court regarding accidents caused by bad roads and cattle was heard in the division bench of the Chief Justice on Monday September 23 . The bench has asked the Chief Secretary to state on affidavit as to when will the cattle seen on the roads be removed? The court has given 15 days for this.
During the hearing on the PIL, the court asked the government that stray animals are constantly seen on the roads. What are the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils are doing to curb this? Along with this, the High Court reprimanded and said that is the responsibility of improving the roads only on the National Highway Authority? The next hearing of the case will now be held in the third week of October.
Let us inform you that Rajesh Chikara and Sanjay Rajak had filed a PIL in 2019 on accidents due to dilapidated roads and gathering of cattle. It was said in the petition that accidents are happening due to leaving animals open on the main roads and common roads of the city. The most dangerous situation is on the National Highway, where major accidents have happened due to animals sitting on the roads in the dark. The government has no control, attention is also not being paid to prevention.
Hiva driver who trampled 18 cattle arrested
On Monday September 23 morning, the Hiva driver trampled not one or two but 18 cattle on the National Highway going from Darrighat to Korba. There was anger among the people after the incident. The Hiva driver who caused the incident while driving carelessly has been arrested by the Sipat police.
