On Tuesday August 27 , Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed out appointment letters to 72 new Assistant Professors at his residence in Dehradun. These professors, selected by the Public Service Commission, will teach Sociology, Economics, and English.
CM Dhami also launched a portal to provide Rs 50,000 to meritorious students in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Institute. He emphasized the crucial role of teachers in shaping the future of students and encouraged the new professors to innovate in their work.
Dhami announced plans to run awareness campaigns against societal evils and use modern technology to provide value-based, employment-oriented education. He highlighted that over 16,000 youth have been appointed to government services in the past three years, with efforts ongoing to fill remaining vacancies.
He also mentioned the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and praised Uttarakhand’s top ranking in the Sustainable Development Goals by NITI Aayog. The state is promoting entrepreneurship and startups, with initiatives like the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme and the National Education Policy 2020.
Dhami spoke about infrastructure development, the establishment of 20 model colleges, and scholarships for meritorious students. Under the ‘Gaurav’ scheme, the government aims to provide banking and finance training to students and place 5,000 of them in jobs.
