‘They dragged me into a room and gangraped me, the college guards were helpless…’, the story of the Kolkata gangrape victim will shock you

Kolkata Rape Case: The victim said, “When the accused was raping me, he recorded the video, threatened me that if I did not cooperate, they would show the video to everyone. I want justice.

A gang rape case related to the state-run South Kolkata Law College has come to light in West Bengal. According to the information, the student was gang-raped on the night of June 25 in the college campus. Three accused have been arrested in connection with the gang rape. One of them is a former student of the college and two are current students. It is being told that the incident took place between 7.30 pm and 10.50 pm on June 25.

After the arrest, all three accused were produced in Alipore Court. The police sought 14 days of police custody, but the court has allowed the three accused to be kept in police custody till next Tuesday. According to the FIR lodged on the complaint of the victim, the main accused is Monojit Mishra (31), who is a former student of the college and the president of the unit of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP). Apart from this, the co-accused include Zaib Ahmed (19) and Pramit Mukherjee (20).

The victim narrated a painful story…

The victim said in the complaint lodged, “They tried to force me with the intention of having sex. I refused and did not let them do anything and pushed back. I cried and asked them to let me go, I told them that I am in a relationship and love my boyfriend but they did not listen. I had a panic attack and was having trouble breathing because they were not listening to me.

I asked them to take me to the hospital but they were not helping me.” The victim further said, “They had closed the main gate of the college. The guard was helpless and did not help me. They took me to the room again. I touched their feet but they did not let me go. They forcibly took me to the guard room. Removed my clothes and forcibly started raping me. They blackmailed me, threatened me that they will kill my friend and also arrest my parents.” The victim further said, “While the accused was raping me, he recorded my video, threatened me that if I did not cooperate, they would show the video to everyone. When I was trying to get out of the room, they tried to hit me with a hockey stick. I want justice.”

The student had gone to fill the exam form

The victim (24 years old) reached the college campus on June 25 at 12 noon to fill the exam form. She first sat in the union room of the college. Later she was caught by the main accused, who instructed to close the main gate of the college. According to the complainant, she was raped in the security guard’s room.

What did the police say?

Police sources claim that the accused named in the FIR are alumni/employees and students of South Kolkata Law College. According to the complaint, the incident took place inside South Calcutta Law College between 19:30 and 22:50 on 25.06.2025. During the investigation, a preliminary medical examination of the victim was conducted. Witnesses were examined and their statements were recorded. The crime scene was visited and preserved for forensic examination.

According to the police, two FIR accused were arrested by Kasba police station from opposite Siddharth Shankar Shishu Roy Udyan near Talbagan crossing in Kolkata. Mobile phones of both the accused were seized from their possession. The third FIR accused was arrested from his house. His mobile phone was also seized. Police say that considering the seriousness of the case, investigation is being done from every angle.

What did the lawyer say?

Prosecution lawyer Saurin Ghoshal said, “The court has heard the whole matter, we have shown the medical evidence to the court. The court has given police custody till July 1. The medical evidence is present in the case.” Defence lawyer Azam Khan said, “The court ordered that there were three people in the court room. This is not an allegation that is being spread everywhere. The incident is here. A college student has made the allegation. The judge has given time till Tuesday. Let the investigation happen.”

The prosecution says that the arrest was made after the medical. Right now only the preliminary investigation has been done in one day.
