This year’s biggest anti-terror operation in J&K! Fierce encounter continues in Kulgam for three days, 3 terrorists killed so far

J&K : Indian Army sources said that the encounter going on between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam for the last three days could be the biggest anti-terror operation of this year.

The encounter going on between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir for the last three days is still going on today Sunday August 3, 2025 . Explosions and firing continued throughout the night yesterday in the forests of Akhal. Indian Army sources said that this could be the biggest operation of this year.

In this encounter, the security forces have succeeded in killing three terrorists so far. One soldier has also been injured.

Hi-tech surveillance system and Special Para Force personnel are involved in this anti-terror operation. The DGP of Jammu and Kashmir and the Commander of the 15th Corps of the Army are keeping a close watch on this anti-terror operation. Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement that a joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG), Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is engaged in this anti-terror operation going on in the forests of Akhal.

A police officer said that the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Akhal forest area of ​​South Kashmir on August 1 after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists. He said that the search operation turned into an encounter after the hidden terrorists opened fire on the security forces, after which the security forces retaliated.

Three encounters in a week in Jammu and Kashmir

This is the third encounter of security forces with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir this week. Earlier, the security forces had carried out Operation Mahadev and killed three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack – Suleman, Afghan and Jibran. Suleman, a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was the mastermind of the Pahalgam and Gagangir terror attacks. Union Home Minister Amit Shah told Parliament on July 29 that the three have been identified among the Pakistani terrorists who brutally shot and killed 26 innocent tourists in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam on April 22.

Two more terrorists were killed on 31 July near the Line of Control in Poonch. Police said that both of them had infiltrated from Pakistan and entered the Indian border, and were killed by security forces near the LoC. On the other hand, security forces had started a search operation in the forests of Kulgam on August 1 after receiving intelligence information, which turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire.
