Uttar Pradesh: In the case of sexual abuse allegations against Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth in Prayagraj, the ADJ Special Court for Rape and Protection of Children (SPC) has directed the Jhunsi police station to register an FIR and investigate against Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati and his disciple Swami Mukundanand Giri on Saturday February 21, 2026 .

ADJ POCSO Court Order
ADJ POCSO Act Vinod Kumar Chaurasia stated in his order that a case be filed against both accused and a proper investigation be conducted. Following the court’s directive, an FIR will be filed at the Jhunsi police station and further action will be taken. It is believed that this order may increase the difficulties faced by Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati.

The petition was filed under Section 173(4).
On January 28th, Ashutosh Brahmachari, associated with the Shakumbhari Peethadhishwar and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust, filed a petition under Section 173(4) seeking the registration of an FIR. He alleges that minor children are sexually abused at Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati’s ashram. He also claims to have submitted a CD to the court in this regard.

Statements of Minors Recorded
On February 13th, the statements of the two minors who made the allegations were recorded in court, accompanied by videography. The court also took cognizance of the police report and reserved its decision after the hearing. Now, the court has issued an order to register an FIR.

Ashutosh Brahmachari Expresses Satisfaction
Following the court’s order, Ashutosh Brahmachari stated that he has received justice. He announced that he will undertake the Sanatan Yatra on foot from Prayagraj to Vidya Math, Varanasi, to bring the truth to the public. He alleges that minor children were exploited in Vidya Math itself.
