New Delhi : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi today on October 8 . In the meeting, the state’s industrial corridor, development of international air cargo facilities and many other development related issues were discussed. In this meeting, the Union Minister has assured to approve many proposals for the development of Chhattisgarh, which will give a new direction to the state.

The main issue of the meeting was the development of Chhattisgarh’s industrial corridor. Chief Minister Sai requested the Union Minister to connect Korba-Bilaspur-Raipur with Nagpur Industrial Corridor. Union Minister Piyush Goyal assured that this proposal will be implemented soon. He also directed the officials of the Government of India to take necessary action in this regard.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister also emphasized the need for international air cargo facilities in Raipur. He said that this would boost the export of agricultural and food processing products of the state. The Chief Minister said that the old terminal of Raipur can be used for this facility, which will facilitate export. Union Minister Piyush Goyal showed a positive attitude on this and assured to give approval soon. This facility will help the industries of the state to compete in global markets.

In the meeting, the issue of setting up APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) Certification Office in Chhattisgarh was also raised. The Chief Minister said that the establishment of this office will give global recognition to the agricultural products of Chhattisgarh, which will benefit farmers and industrialists. The Union Minister said on this proposal that the Government of India will provide all possible help on this.

The meeting also discussed increasing the capacity of Concor Container Depot located in Raipur. Chief Minister Sai informed that at present only 15 percent of the total capacity of the depot is being used. He requested the Union Minister to add more shipping lines, which will reduce the export cost and boost business activities. The Union Minister also showed a positive attitude on this and said that the issue will be resolved with the Shipping Ministry soon.

Chief Minister Sai also demanded the organisation of national and international business events in Nava Raipur. This proposal will be an important step towards developing Chhattisgarh as a business and industrial hub. This will boost the commercial activities of the state and generate new business opportunities. Union Minister Goyal agreed to all these proposals and assured early implementation.

Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Amitabh Jain, Secretary to Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, Industrial Commerce Secretary of Chhattisgarh Rajat Kumar, Investment Commissioner of Chhattisgarh in New Delhi Mrs. Ritu Sen, Resident Commissioner Shruti Singh were also present in the meeting.

Demand for setting up of IT and Multi-Sector SEZ

Chief Minister Sai also proposed to set up IT Services Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nava Raipur and Multi-Sector SEZ in other growth hubs of the state. For this, 400 acres of land has been identified in Janjgir and Rajnandgaon. The Chief Minister said that at present, raw material is being exported from Chhattisgarh to other states, which is necessary to stop this and to promote industrial development in the state. The Union Minister expressed hope for early implementation of this project with feasibility study.

Informed the Union Minister about the state’s new Industrial Policy 2024-29

The Chhattisgarh government has announced to implement the new Industrial Policy 2024-29 to achieve the goal of “Amritkaal: Chhattisgarh Vision / 2047”. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai informed Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal about this policy, which aims to encourage industrial development, increase employment opportunities and achieve economic prosperity. The Chief Minister said that the aim of this policy is to transform Chhattisgarh into a prosperous and sustainable economic development state. This policy will open new avenues of development by promoting industrial activities in the state.
