In the Kolkata rape murder case, a bench headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is hearing the case. The bench is directing the doctors to return to work. Resident doctors across the country have been on strike for the last several days, causing trouble to lakhs of people. The court also raised many questions on the attitude of Mamata government, RG Kar Hospital and West Bengal Police.
According to sources, the CBI team is now investigating the evidence present in the hospital at the time of death and the statement of the accused. CBI sources said that Sanjay Roy was doing recce of the victim doctor for a long time. Even on the day of the incident, he kept an eye on the trainee doctor from morning till night and on 9 October he carried out the crime.
But during the investigation it is not yet clear whether he killed the doctor on someone’s instructions or it was the result of his bad habits. CBI sources said that in the CCTV footage obtained from RG Kar, the accused Sanjay Roy was seen inside the hospital several times. During this time he also kept hovering around the trainee doctor.
First of all, he reached the ward of the Chest Department at 11 am on August 8, where the trainee doctor was present with four other junior colleagues. After reaching there, Sanjay kept staring at the lady doctor. According to the investigating officers, the accused had complete information about the schedule of the trainee doctor.
The accused was seen in the hospital even at 4 am
According to the CBI, the victim left the ward for dinner with other junior doctors and returned to the seminar hall after 1 am on August 9. A junior doctor entered the seminar hall at around 2:30 am. The trainee doctor spoke to him. Then it is believed that the victim fell asleep in the seminar hall. In the CCTV footage, Sanjay Roy was seen entering the hospital at 4 am on August 9. After this, he reached the seminar hall on the third floor, where the trainee doctor was sleeping. It is suspected that he targeted the lady doctor in the early hours and killed her after raping her.
The Supreme Court reprimanded the Bengal Police
Let us inform you that the CBI presented a status report in the Supreme Court on Thursday August 22 , in which it is said that after the incident in RG Kar Medical College, an attempt was made to tamper with the crime scene. In this case, the negligence of the hospital management has also come to light, which called the victim’s father and asked him that his daughter had committed suicide. Questions have also been raised on the police investigation in the CBI report.
The Supreme Court said that the police’s method of investigation was not correct. Police procedure is different from criminal procedure. The behavior of Bengal police is shameful. There were important clues at the crime scene, which were saved by delay. The surprising thing is that the FIR was registered after the postmortem. The Supreme Court commented that it has not seen such negligence in 30 years.
